Former World Champion and Olympian launches alcohol-free hand sanitiser – Loughborough University

Liam Tancock

Liam Tancock, International Brand Director at Swimzi, has recently launched a new hand sanitiser and designer face masks in response to COVID-19.

Swimzi produce pool apparel, including club kits for in and out of the pool. The team has quickly turned attention to supporting swimmers and the general population during the pandemic.

They have teamed up with scientists at Watter to produce an alcohol-free hand sanitiser that kills 99.999% of pathogens. It is produced using active chlorine and it has been tested against bacteria, yeast, and viruses.

Usually producing designer kits, Swimzi also have fashionable face masks for sale. The masks have two layers – polyester and cotton – and include built-in pouches for mask filters. The face masks come in a variety of patterns and are available to match up with various other swimming garments. Available in junior and adult designs, swimmers can proudly say “I’m a swimmer” whilst abiding by latest advice on wearing face coverings.

The new products support government advice on face coverings and regular sanitising, and the team at Swimzi hope this will mean that swimmers can safely dive back into the pools as soon as is allowed.

Liam (pictured), who graduated with a degree in Sports Science in 2011, is a three-time World Champion, double Olympian and former 50m World Record holder. He is also a member of the Loughborough Sport Hall of Fame.
